Main Task
As a group we have begun to discuss our main task. We decided that for the main task we want to do the follow things:
1 - Levels of concentration need to increase
2 - More time will be spent on composition
3 - Everyone will take part in the editing process
4 - We will set our own time guidelines for everything we will do, so time management improves considerably.
5 - More development on costumes, make -up and mise-en-scene.
6 - More time spent on creating natural effects
7 - Not be afraid to re-do things
The following roles have been assigned to each person (everyone will play a small part in each role):
1. Catherine - Actress and photographer
2. Akshay - Cameraman and Chief Editor
3. Emma - Actress, Sound Producer
4. Georgia - Director and behind scenes runner
We have also written a storyboard for our idea and will all be taking photos of potential locations in order to share with each other to produce a final idea.
Main Task Film Opening:
Title: Mother of Pearl

Location: Emma's House
Time: 14:00 - 17:00
Plot: In 1981, a young girl named Pearl was murdered by her mother, and her body was buried in the garden. The house had remained desolate, until now. Emma and her family have moved in, and Pearl isn't one to be disturbed. Pearl possesses Emma and forces her to do her bidding, testing Emma to her limits. All Pearl wants is a mother she can trust. But at what cost?

Today we begun filming for our Main Task. We want to have a shopping channel on the TV when Emma enters the room advertising a Mother of Pearl necklace which then changes to show Pearl, and so we have to create these ourselves first. Focusing on the shopping channel, we filmed in front of a blank white sheet with me sitting on a stool wearing the necklace, and with Akshay stood next to me so he could point at the necklace whilst saying his pitch. We had a few minor problems, such as not having a tripod or script, but they were easily solved by borrowing a tripod from the Library and writing the dialogue on a prompt card. Emma came up with the idea that in future we should use prompt cards of action and dialogue, so the actors know what they have to be doing, to avoid conclusion. We filmed the whole pitch using a stationary camera and a mid shot, and then we took some shots of an extreme close up of the necklace. We intend to edit the scene so that when Akshay gestures to the necklace a close up of the necklace will follow, but his voice can still be heard. We did it this way to avoid shaky camera movements. Tomorrow we want to film Pearl's part of the video.

Today we continued to film the DVD section of our film opening. We went to Catherine's house and filmed her younger sister Molly who is playing Pearl. We chose to have her in her school uniform to make her seem young and innocent, and we changed the darkness between each take to make her seem increasingly scary and dangerous. We had a few minor set backs such as Molly got a bit embarrassed about doing it, and almost started to cry, (as she is quite young) so myself and Emma left the room as she was more comfortable doing it in front of Catherine. We got it done quite quickly, and afterwards as a thank you we all sent Molly a box of chocolates with a ribbon on them with a thank you card from C.A.G.E productions.

Today we filmed our film opening. We encountered a few problems, we had decided to have Emma and Catherine wearing red contacts, but neither of the girls were able to put them in with out irritating their eyes. To solves this problem we ringed Catherine's eyes with red and a slight line of white to make them stand out, and this looked really effective. For Emma we decided to forget about the contacts and keep it simple with the blood red tear. Before we started our final film we did test shots for each scene. This eradicated any problems, and we were able to have a clear idea of how the shots were to be filmed and from what angle, etc. We recorded our ideas on a voice recorder which will be put into a log for future reference when it comes to evaluating our piece. We made sure we kept an eye on the time, and unfortunately our main camera died, and so we had to use our back up. When we edit we will see if this is a problem or not, and if it is we will re-shoot the final scenes. Overall, we worked well and completed our film opening.

Today we began editing our film opening. We began the process of ordering our clips in a time line.

Today we continued editing our film opening, we are very close to having all the clips in order, and we also worked on our production company logo and finished this.
