Preliminary Task

Here is the outline of our preliminary task.
Show A entering a room from a corridor and opening the door. Inside the room B is sitting down. Without saying anything, A gives B a piece of paper. B reads it,reacts. A displays some kind of emotion and leaves.

I am in the same group as before.

Test Experimental Videos

In this video we were discussing how we were going to use a canted angle in our video, and how was best to film it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qZOWNfGjVk&feature=related
In this video we explored further how we were going to do a canted angle, by also making it low. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0Gn7nMsEh0&feature=related
In this video, we had to cut out another section of corridor, and so this was the trial run for that process. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJonAoGXFwI&NR=1
We then filmed the same process again, but had Emma turn a different corner so there would be continuity throughout. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=iFv9OtOrCwA
In this video, we used a panning 180 degree shot to practise getting the camera behind Emma. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNhOwlTNBFY&feature=related
After these videos we now have a clear idea of where we want to go with our film. We have also devised a storyboard of our plot.

Final Locations

We chose the corridor because it had an eerie fell to it, and we found a lot of creepy horror like items already in the mise-en-scene, such as the drawings of eyes at the end of the corridor. We were also able to flicker the lights to add a feeling of suspense. We chose this door to be the main location for our scene, because the room inside is pitch black, and when lit, it has a red light, which has lots of horror connotations. It also has a keep out sign at the top, which is foreboding, and will be useful for us to create an undesirable environment.

Location Ideas

We chose this as a possible location because we liked the steel wires going across the doors, which we could use to represent that A was trapped. The downside to it was the lighting in the room, it was too bright for the sense of danger that we wanted to create.

We chose the stairs as a location for our task because we felt it would be a good place for a dramatic entrance by A. A downside to the location however, is that once A had walked down the stairs, there was no where for A to go and see B.

This is the first location we looked at. We liked it because it had an eerie feel as the block is very old, and is rumoured to be haunted. However we realised there was no place for a chair inside the narrow hallway.
